WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU WORSHIP AT SOUTHERN HILLS

What does a typical worship service look like?

Usually our services last a little over an hour, and include times of prayer, congregational singing, and teaching that’s rooted in scripture. There’s a time set aside for giving, and our kids are invited to give to a specific ministry each week as well. One of the central components of our worship is sharing in communion each week, which is open to all who would like to participate.

Will I be singled out if I’m new?

Definitely not. We want you to experience Southern Hills at your own pace, so we won’t put you through any uncomfortable, high pressure tactics. When you’re ready to take a next step with us - to learn more about our church, or to join a class, or to place membership - we’ve tried to create simple ways for guests to reach out to us to help make those things happen.

Is there a dress code?

Nope. Most people at Southern Hills dress casually. Some dress up, some dress down, but all are welcome without judgment.

What about my kids?

Southern Hills loves children. We welcome sounds of crying babies and fidgety kids - which we believe are signs of a healthy and growing church. We strive to be a multi-generational church family, where people of all ages - children included - are connected and feel they are valued members.

At the same time, we do provide a cry room for parents who need a place to hang out with their little ones, as well as an attended nursery for those who want to drop their youngsters with caring adults while they participate in worship. For children in first grade and younger, after communion we dismiss those whose parents prefer they go to Kids Worship. Read more about our Children’s Ministry here.
