“Making Everyday Disciples”
We seek for our church to be a kind of training center, a Christ-shaped equipping community we can belong to, where we receive ongoing practical training to be made into—and to help make other people into— faithful everyday disciples.
We all have various aspects of life, and we want Jesus to be Lord over every one of those aspects of life. The spiritual training we receive at church should help us develop and grow in seven essential areas of life:
Our church ministry programs and events are designed to help us learn and grow as a disciple in each one of these areas of life. May God bless us, and may God partner with us as we seek to be made into faithful everyday disciples who help make other people everyday disciples of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Southern Hills is a multi-generational church family located in south Abilene. Here are the expectations we have for each other at Southern Hills:
An expectation of our Christianity being a lifestyle, not a once-a-week event.
An expectation that we are a praying people and a people who have a hunger for studying the Bible.
An expectation that we share a burden for those who do not know Christ and a passion for sharing Jesus with them.
An expectation of participation in the fellowship, worship and growth of the body through regular attendance at the times the Southern Hills church family has determined to gather corporately.
An expectation that each member must be involved in a ministry before the Southern Hills church can function at its fullest potential. This expectation is rooted in the teaching of Scripture that each Christian has been given a gift by God, and that these gifts are to be used for the building up of the body.
An expectation that each member of the Southern Hills church family has a responsibility to give of their financial blessings in order that the work of the church might continue.
