Southern Hills Wedding/Baby Shower Policies
Effective 1/1/2024
It is the desire of our church to celebrate and support the members of our church when they are celebrating marriage or celebrating the arrival of a new baby. In order to provide consistency and support for these events, the following guidelines have been established.
General Procedures and Guidelines
The overview of our basic policy is as follows:
Individuals responsible for planning the wedding or baby shower will contact Brenda Jamison, church administrative assistant, to confirm a date on the church calendar.
If the requirements are met, a written announcement will go in the Sunday Bulletin on the day of the shower and the two weeks prior (3 Sundays total). An announcement will also go in our weekly Wednesday email for 3 weeks prior to the shower.
Wedding Showers
A church-wide wedding shower will be offered if:
One or both individuals are members or regular attendees of Southern Hills Church.
One or both individuals grew up as a member or regular attendee of Southern Hills Church, and their parents are still members or regular attendees.
A church-wide wedding shower means that all ladies of the church are invited, and the shower is advertised in the bulletin and weekly email.
Showers will be hosted and organized by members of Southern Hills Church.
Baby Showers
A church-wide baby shower will be offered if:
The mother-to-be is a member or regular attendee of Southern Hills Church.
This is her first child.
A church-wide baby shower means that all ladies of the church are invited, and the shower is advertised in the bulletin and weekly email.
Showers will be hosted and organized by members of Southern Hills Church.
Basket Shower
A basket shower may be offered for a member or regular attendee, if a church-wide shower is not given (for example, for a second or third baby or if the mother-to-be prefers a basket shower for her first child).
A basket will be placed in the foyer by the hostess for gifts and cards.
The basket will be available in the foyer for two Sundays in a row.
An announcement will go in the bulletin and weekly email for two weeks.
Facility Use
The following guidelines will be followed for church facility use:
If the individual meets the criteria above for a church-wide shower, the hostesses can use the Southern Hills facility for the shower at no cost. Be sure to contact Brenda in the church office to get the space reserved.
If the individual doesn’t meet the criteria for a church-wide shower, the hostesses can use the Southern Hills facility for the shower for the rental fee of $15 per hour or $75 for the day for members and $25 per hour or $125 for the day for non-members. Showers, in this case, will not be advertised in any church-wide communications.
This policy does not restrict private showers and the sending of individual invitations.
