Children are loved here.

Families are empowered here.

Hide And Go Seek

The Southern Hills Children & Family Ministry is here to be a support and resource for children and families, helping them to hide God’s Word, ways and will in their hearts & then go seek others out, helping them to do the same.  The ministry is sub-divided into the following age groups:

All Children & Family Ministry events at Southern Hills are intergenerational, infused with scripture and seek to inspire connections with neighbors. Parents are the best and primary faith trainers of their children. Events are held with family fun and faith training in mind. Come join other families and learn ideas for sharing God-moments at home.

Some things we look forward to each year:

  Eggstravaganza & Egg Hunt

  All-Church Musical VBS

  Trunk or Treat

  Christmas Candlelight

Several “Family Ties” events like Daddy-Daughter Date Night.

Family Support

We are here to help your family in your spiritual journey, walking with you as your family  grows and ministers to others.

Milestone Mentor Groups

This is a group of families providing support, encouragement, wisdom and prayer for one another as they journey through life. These families meet in smaller clusters as well as large groups during the year, including hosing parenting seminars, potlucks and marriage retreats.

Faith At Home

Families are equipped several times per year with devotional activities to experience at home. These experiences are designed to encourage spiritual conversations among parents and children in a more private setting.

Special Needs

We want to love and serve God by facilitating children with special needs and supporting their families. We do this by partnering with your family to help you in being invited, included and involved. We will work with you and your child’s individual needs to determine which class is best for your child. Inclusivity is key.

Book Nook

Visit this small bookstore in the Children’s wing for Bibles, spiritual parenting books, devotional resources, recommended apps and a place to pray with someone.

  • What security procedures does Southern Hills use to make sure my child is safe?

Parents and children are issued matching identification tags in order to control access into our nursery and Children's Ministry areas.  These tags also designate who is authorized to pick your child up.
Southern Hills thoroughly checks and trains staff and volunteers to ensure a clean, safe, loving environment properly prepared to handle emergencies and security procedures.

  • What do I do if my little one can't sit through a worship assembly?

We love for children to participate in our worship assemblies, and you'll frequently see them participating through the Kids' Offering, praise teams, scripture reading and leading prayer.  At the same time, we realize it's difficult for some of our younger ones to be in a pew for a long time.  Therefore we offer nursery services for children under two, and Front Porch Kids for children age two through kindergarten.  We also provide a cry room for nursing mothers.

  • What are Southern Hills "spiritual milestones"?

From birth through teen years, Southern Hills has several intentional milestones in which our children and families participate.  The milestones in our Children's Ministry include Baby Blessing, First Grade Bibles, and Bible Boot Camp.  In a child's teenage years, they'll experience Baptism Classes and Senior Blessing.

  • Whom should I contact with questions?

Contact our Children and Family Minister, Ryan Maloney, or one of our coordinators: Tara Gilmer (Nursery), Bobbie Byrd (Early Childhood), or Terry Wyatt (Elementary).

Feel led to help out?

Contact Ryan to find ways you can volunteer in the Children's Ministry.
